Terms of Service

Last updated: October 14, 2026 · English version — Polish version

1. Who we are

coverly ("the platform", "we") is a website that lets creators of open-source and side projects ("creators") show the real costs of running their projects and accept donations from supporters ("donors") to cover those costs. Using the platform — as a creator or as a donor — means you accept these Terms of Service. For questions about these terms, contact us at prywatnosc@coverly.cc.

2. Using the platform

The platform is available to adults with full legal capacity. Access to the creator dashboard may be limited to selected people and is granted by us at our discretion; no password is ever stored. Donors do not need to create an account to make a donation. You may not use the platform in a way that violates the law, good practice, or the rights of third parties, including publishing content that misrepresents a project's real costs or nature. In addition to the main service, we provide a separate test environment. No real payments are processed there, and data stored in that environment may be deleted at any time and is not backed up.

3. Rules for creators

Creators are responsible for the content published within their project — name, description, link, and cost items — and agree to provide accurate, truthful information, in particular regarding the real costs of running the project (e.g. hosting, domain). The platform lets creators embed a badge showing the current coverage status in their project's documentation (e.g. README). The platform charges 0% commission on donations — donations are only subject to Stripe's standard payment-processing fees. To receive donations, a creator must complete Stripe Connect Express's verification (onboarding) process — donated funds go directly to the creator's own Stripe account; the platform never holds these funds at any point.

4. Rules for donors

Payments are processed exclusively through Stripe (card or BLIK, depending on the selected currency) — the platform never processes or stores payment card data. A donation is a voluntary financial contribution to a project's creator and, as a general rule, is non-refundable. A refund may only occur in cases of: (a) a clear technical error resulting in a duplicate charge for the same payment, (b) an unauthorized transaction confirmed by Stripe, or (c) the creator's own decision to voluntarily refund a donation made to them. In such cases, please contact us at prywatnosc@coverly.cc. A message attached to a donation is visible only to the project's creator — never publicly.

5. Limitation of liability

The platform is provided "as is", with no guarantee of uninterrupted or error-free operation. We are not responsible for content published by creators, including whether declared costs match reality — responsibility for a project's content rests solely with its creator. We are not responsible for the operation, availability, or policies of third-party services we rely on (Stripe, Resend). To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the amount of fees paid to the platform by the affected party in the 12 months preceding the event — and since the platform does not charge users any fees, this liability is in practice limited to zero, except in cases of intentional misconduct or gross negligence, and in situations where a limitation of liability is not permitted under applicable law (e.g. towards consumers).

6. Changes to these terms

We reserve the right to change these Terms of Service. We will announce material changes by updating the date on this page and — if a change materially affects the rights of creators or donors — by emailing registered creators. Continuing to use the platform after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of it.

7. Governing law and contact

These Terms of Service are governed by Polish law. Disputes will be resolved by the court with jurisdiction over the administrator's registered address, without prejudice to a consumer's right to bring a claim before the court with jurisdiction over their place of residence. For questions about these terms, contact us at prywatnosc@coverly.cc.
